Bids are requested for the replacement of an existing steel pipe arch on Eastern Avenue for the City of Brewer.
The project includes the removal of an approximately 16'4" wide by 10'6" tall by 60' long steel pipe arch and installation of a new approximately 16'4" wide by 10'6" tall by 90' long aluminum structural plate pipe arch in its place. Removal of existing guardrail and installation of new guardrail will be required. Granular material will be installed and properly compacted and the roadway will be repaved. Project also includes relocation of a section of 20" water main. The new pipe arch will be ordered in advance of the project and will be delivered to the City Landfill off Elm Street. The Contractor will be responsible for transportation to the site and coordinating with the manufacturer, Contech Engineered Solutions, who will be assembling the pipe arch in the prepared trench with aid from the Contractor.
Interested bidders may obtain bid information and specifications for the project by contacting Brewer Engineering Department at (207) 989-7800. For consideration, the bid form must be sealed in an envelope, distinctly marked, "2016 Eastern Avenue Culvert Replacement" and must be received at the Office of Jeremy Caron, Brewer Engineering Dept., 221 Green Point Road, Brewer, ME by 2:00 PM, Thursday June 2, 2016. Any bids received after the date and time specified will not be allowed. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday May 10, 2016 at Brewer Engineering Dept. located at 221 Green Point Road, Brewer, Maine. Bids will be accepted only from bidders represented at the pre-bid meeting.
Prospective contractors should note that this project must be completed between July 15th and September 30th, 2016 as part of the permitting requirements. The City of Brewer, Maine holds the exclusive right to reject or accept all or part of any or all bids received.
